...it's not dark yet, but it's gettin' there...
The category is "Profanity," for $300.
Trevor is in the lead with $1900, Casca has $1700, Victor has $1100, Shelly has $700, Phil has $500, Charlie, D-Rod and Skippy have $400 each, Jasen has $300, Ken and Kyle have $200 each. There is one Daily Double left.
*bzzz*
Who is Carl Hiaasen?
Drake, trembling with excitement, mashes the signaling device repeatedly while looking plaintively at the other contestants.
Ding!
Who is Tom Wolfe in the book Charlotte Simmons. Drake smuggly adds, "Though, Annika, he used the same language in Bonfire of the Vanities." Now Drake waits patiently for the admiration of everyone.

Who is famed New Zealand author Gregory Pissfuckdiddle?
Kevin
You guys must blog late at night, I got up at five AM central time, I knew the answer, and I'm late.
Damm.
Kyle, I get up at 5AM Eastern every day (even weekends). You live in the wrong time zone.
My answer was a guess. I've googled it and discovered I'm wrong.

Who is John Irving?
Ugh, John Irving is SO overrated. "A Widow for One Year" was bloody awful.
Posted by: M on Aug. 17, 2005Nice job Shelly. pick again.
Posted by: annika T. on Aug. 17, 2005Ya, nice job. Shouldn't you be out suing someone?
Posted by: Casca on Aug. 17, 2005LOL Casca.
Posted by: d-rod on Aug. 17, 2005Thanks, Annie, I'll take places that suck for 4.
Note to Casca:
I am a recovering lawyer who no longer sues people. Trial lawyers die young, so I decided years ago to stop trying to die. Besides, it is too late to die young.
I just deal with the rascals, who fortunately are out for their annual August do-nothing month off, so I get one, too.
Otherwise, I wouldn't have time for this insideous game, which, I am glad to say, is almost at it's end.
Posted by: shelly on Aug. 17, 2005Truth is no defense.
Posted by: Casca on Aug. 17, 2005You must have been absent the day that defamation was discussed in your torts class; that's only in malicious defamation of a non-public figure.
See: Sullivan v. NY Times
Posted by: shelly on Aug. 17, 2005Nope, that's what the "Family Law" judge told me right before, "sit down and shut the fuck up".
Posted by: Casca on Aug. 17, 2005...so I just sat there, staring at the monitor in bovine stupefaction, drool tendril exploring the air, wondering what the FUCK the phrase "suck for 4" meant. Near as I can figure, it's just another cruel reminder that others are far, far more sexually active than I.
